作者简介: Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings The late Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings was born on August 8, 1896 in Washington D.C., and lived there as a child, and on her father's farm in Maryland. She has said that she considers her Pulitzer Prize winning novel, The Yearling the most unified of her books. It had been in her mind for many years, and she spent five years gathering material for it. The actual writing took two years. The list of honors she received during her lifetime is very long and includes having three of her works chosen as Book-of-the-Month Club selections, receiving the Pulitzer Prize and the O'Henry Prize for The Yearling. She was also awarded honorary degrees from Rollins College, the University of Tampa, and the University of Florida. Mrs. Rawlings has left a literary legacy which includes seven novels, a cookbook, a host of short stories which appeared in the major national magazines, two radio *s, and two movies, with The Yearling translated into sixteen languages. --This text refers to

纳尼亚传奇3:能言马与男孩The Horse and His Boy
作者简介: CLIVE STAPLES LEWIS, known as Jack to his friends, was born in 1898. Lewis and his good friend J. R. R. Tolkien, the author of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, were part of the Inklings, an informal writers' club that met at a local pub to discuss story ideas. Lewis's fascination with fairy tales, myths and ancient legends, coupled with inspiration drawn from his childhood, led him to write THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, one of the best-loved books of all time. Six further books followed to become the immensely popular Chronicles of Narnia. The final title in the series, THE LAST BATTLE, was awarded the Carnegie Medal, one of the highest marks of excellence in children's literature.

作者简介: ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON (1850-94). As a novelist be is often noted for the powers of invention and depth of psychological insight found in his work; a skill defined by G. K. Chesterton as being able 'to pick the right word up on the point of his pen'. Born in Edinburgh in 185o, Robert Louis (originally Lewis) Balfour Stevenson was the son of a prosperous civil engineer. His father had plans for Stevenson to follow his profession but his son's ill health and weak disposition meant that an alternative career had to be decided upon. Choosing law as a compromise, Stevenson attended Edinburgh University to study for the bar, but his growing disillusion with the Presbyterian respectability of his parents' class led to frequent clashes and he became distanced from them, pefferring instead to lead a bohemian existence. His fascination for the city's low life and the bizarre characters he came across proved rich material for his later stories. By the time Stevenson was called to the bar in 1875

Dr.Seuss Hop on Pop 苏斯博士(ISBN:9780007158492)
First published in 1963, Hop on Pop remains a perennial favorite when it comes to teaching kids to read. Here, as in most of his extensive body of work, Dr. Seuss creates uncomplicated, monosyllabic rhymes to foster learning and inspire children to read. But what was radical about this little book at the time of publication (and what makes it still compelling today) is Seuss''s departure from the traditionally dull pictures and sentences used in reading primers. In contrast, the illustrations here are wild and wonderful, and the accompanying language, while simple, is delightfully silly. For example, the rhyme "THREE TREE / Three fish in a tree / Fish in a tree? / How can that be?" is brought to life with a trio of plump, self-satisfied fish perched atop globular branches as two stymied hybrid dog-rabbit-humanoids look on in consternation. Hop on Pop does much more than teach children the basics of word construction, it also introduces them to the incomparable pleasure of reading a book. (Ages Baby to
